Bowling Footwear

We kindly request that all members and visitors to our club respect our meticulously maintained greens by wearing the appropriate footwear at all times. Our dedicated volunteers invest countless hours of hard work and commitment into the upkeep of these greens, ensuring that they remain in pristine condition for all of us to enjoy. By wearing the right footwear, you not only contribute to the longevity and quality of the greens but also demonstrate your appreciation for the efforts of our volunteers. Let’s collectively cherish and protect this beautiful asset we have. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in preserving the heart of our bowling club.

In assessing whether footwear is appropriate to wear on a bowling surface, the following needs to be considered:

  • Contour of the sole
  • One piece sole
  • Channel depth
  • No raised heel
  • No attached heel
  • Rounded edges
  • Indented non-slip sole
  • No excessively pronounced ripples/obstructions

“ Lawn Bowl shoes by design are manufactured from material which is softer that the surface that they are worn on, shoes (sneakers) by design have hard soles which are designed for hard surface wear. These shoes should not be worn on artificial or grass surfaces if you wish to prolong the life of your greens”

“ Bowls shoes usually last for up to two seasons for active bowlers whereby various sneakers can last for years due to the design hardness of the sole, use of these must be discouraged .”
